Why Fragrances Last Longer on Clothes Than on Skin?

Why Fragrances Last Longer on Clothes Than on Skin?

Many people notice that a perfume fades quickly on skin but lasts much longer on clothes. This is not a flaw in the fragrance—it is natural.

Skin is alive. It has heat, moisture, and natural oils. These elements break down the fragrance molecules faster. Body temperature causes the scent to evaporate, and sweat or dryness can further reduce its lasting power. Every person’s skin chemistry is different, which is why the same perfume smells and lasts differently on different people.

Clothes, on the other hand, are stable. Fabric does not produce heat or oil. It simply holds the fragrance. This allows the scent to stay intact for a much longer time—often many hours, even a full day.

This is why a perfume that lasts 4–6 hours on skin can easily last 8–24 hours on clothes.

For best results, apply fragrance on both skin and clothes. Skin helps the scent project, while clothes help it last.

At BILGHAIB, we craft our perfumes with high oil concentration so that they perform well on both—but especially shine on clothes.
